Suve viimasel nädalal korraldasime koos Jürgen Karvakuga Jänedal Jänijõe talguid. Talgute eesmärgiks oli punuda varasemalt sirgeks kaevatud jõelõigule vitstest paunad, et ühetaoline jõgi muutuks mitmekesisemaks ning hakkaks sirge kanali sees looklema. Paunad tekitavad jõele eri voolukiiruse, -suuna ja veesügavusega lõike, mis aitab kaasa vee-elustiku mitmekesisusele ja jõele loomuomaste protsesside (nt parem veevahetus jõepõhja ning -külgedega) toimimisele. Esimene talgupäev oli üpris karm, sest vihm ei andnud talgulistele armu. See meid aga ei heidutanud ja vapralt punuti külmas jões paunu. Esimesel päeval punuti kokku kolm pauna ja jõkke pandi mitmeid palke, et mitmekesistada jõe keskkonda. Külm ilm ja vihm pani talgulised ihkama sauna järgi ja nii sai otsustatud minna Jäneda saunamaailma. Teise talgupäeva plaan oli korrastada ala ja teha veel üks paun allesolevast materjalist. Teisel päeval oli õnneks ilm palju parem ja üpris hõlbsasti sai viimne paun valmis.
